NMC Magazine

I have had the privilege of being the design editor for the NMC Magazine for two semesters while attending the VCA program at NMC. This is a collection of the work I have done for the magazine over these two semesters. As the design editor, I had many responsibilities. I designed the cover for the fall issue and this spring's issue, designed multiple spreads for both issues, and reviewed and edited layouts. On top of these responsibilities, I was also assigning spreads to other designers, communicating efficiently with my peers, and completing any odd jobs that needed to be done.

The spring 2026 issue theme was “The Maker’s Process.” The cover design was inspired by a sketchbook cover inspired by the issue's theme. The back cover is a collage of writing notes and edits. Not counting the cover design, I designed 8 spreads, including the staff page. I also designed the call for submissions poster for this year and last year. I submitted the process for this year's poster to the magazine.

The fall 2025 issue theme was “Dystopia vs Utopia.” For the cover design, I wanted the outside to feel dystopian and for there to be a window into a utopia. My classmate, Ava Bartz, created the beautiful illustration for the utopia, and I created the rest of the cover to contrast with her organic and colorful illustration.
